  4. Shared Installations:  If you are installing Wintune for someone
  5. else, *do not* save the test results when you run the
  6. program, so that the actual user will be prompted through
  7. the guided tour automatically!

  9. Network Installations: If you are installing WINTUNE on a system that
  10. runs a networked version of Windows (shared SYSTEM directory)
  11. the built-in install may not work. Use EXPAND.EXE to expand
  12. WINTUNE.HL_ to WINTUNE.HLP and search for "Network Installation"
  13. to get instructions for your situation.

  23. Second, PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF THIS VERSION,
  24. PLEASE DELETE ANY PREVIOUS WINTUNE PROGRAM MANAGER
  25. GROUP, AND ANY WINTUNE ICONS. PLEASE ALSO DELETE ALL
  26. WINTUNE.CSV FILES FROM YOUR SYSTEM AND DELETE
  27. WINTUNE.INI FROM YOUR WINDOWS DIRECTORY IF THEY EXIST!

  32. General Notes For All Users:
  33.  
  34. For best accuracy, close down all other programs before
  35. running Wintune.
  36.  
  37. Wintune assumes that you are using a disk cache, and
  38. uses built-in time delays (default = 6 seconds) to allow
  39. the cache to clear, without interfering with benchmark
  40. timings.  If you normally run Windows with a cache, we
  41. recommend you leave the cache enabled while running
  42. Wintune.

  44. You can eliminate or adjust the time delay by running
  45. Wintune from the Program Manager's or File Manager's
  46. File/Run command line.  For example:
  47.  
  48.    c:\wintune\wintune /TXX
  49.  
  50. where XX is the time delay, in seconds, you desire.  A
  51. delay of 0 turns off the time delay entirely.  There
  52. should be no spaces or other characters between the /T
  53. and the number of seconds you desire.

  55. All dialog titles have been changed and updated.
  56.  
  57. Setup has been enhanced, and all new dlls and custom 
  58. controls have been incorporated in this release.

  60. Accelerator keys have been added to the menus.

  62. A new menu item was added under the Help menu.  This is 
  63. "Guided Tour."  The 1st time you run Wintune on a system, 
  64. Wintune will walk you through a Guided Tour, but you 
  65. can take this Guided Tour again at any time by choosing 
  66. the Guided Tour choice from the Help menu.

  68. Setup has been enhanced, and all new dlls and custom 
  69. controls have been incorporated in this release.

  71. The Details Window's close button has been moved to the 
  72. upper portion of the window, next to the Windows Mag 
  73. logo.  In addition, the "help" button has been replaced 
  74. with the help button from the main Wintune window.
